Most installed fences cost $20 to $60 per linear foot in 2026, or $3,000 to $9,000 for 150 feet. That is a national range. We do not have a published figure for Hollywood alone, so treat it as a starting point and let the site visit set the real number.
Price ranges are national figures published by HomeGuide for 2026, not our own quotes. In Hollywood and the rest of Broward County, local labor, material, permit paperwork and the conditions on your lot move the price. Last checked October 2026.
How much does a fence cost per foot?
| Material | Installed cost per foot |
|---|---|
| Chain link | $9 to $30 |
| Wood | $20 to $50 |
| Vinyl | $30 to $60 |
| Aluminum | $25 to $75 |
| Wrought iron | $50 to $85 |
Two local things sit on top of the material price: the permit package the city asks for, and footings sized for hurricane wind in loose sand.
How much does a 6-foot wood privacy fence cost?
The national figure for a 6-foot privacy fence is $25 to $60 per foot installed. The totals below use the general range of $20 to $60 per foot. Expect a full-height solid fence to fall in the upper part of each row, since it has more wood in it and needs sturdier posts to stand against wind.
| Fence length | Typical installed cost |
|---|---|
| 50 feet | $1,000 to $3,000 |
| 100 feet | $2,000 to $6,000 |
| 150 feet | $3,000 to $9,000 |
| 200 feet | $4,000 to $12,000 |
What is the cheapest fence to have installed?
Chain link, at roughly $9 per foot and up by national figures. If you need privacy for the least money, a pressure-treated pine board fence is normally the answer. If the goal is keeping a large dog in the yard on a budget, 5 or 6 foot chain link does it. Ask before you order, though: some associations and some front yards do not allow chain link.
Is black aluminum cheaper than wrought iron or vinyl?
Aluminum is cheaper than wrought iron and close to vinyl. The national ranges are $25 to $75 per foot for aluminum, $50 to $85 for wrought iron and $30 to $60 for vinyl. Near Hollywood Beach and the Intracoastal there is a second reason to pick aluminum: iron needs repainting again and again in salt air, and aluminum does not rust.
How much extra does a gate cost?
Each gate is quoted separately. The price comes from its width, what it is made of, the hinges and latch, and whether it has an opener. A simple walk gate is the smallest add. A wide driveway gate, or any gate with a motor, is the largest. You will see every gate as a separate line on our quote.
How much extra for a slope, brush or an old fence?
We price these after we walk the line, because they differ from yard to yard. Slope is seldom a big cost in Hollywood, where most lots are close to level. What adds money here is pulling out the old fence with its concrete footings, cutting back hedges, sea grape, vines and palm roots, and working in a side yard too narrow for equipment.
I got three quotes and they are far apart. Which one is realistic?
Compare what each one includes before you compare prices. Check the footage, the height, the exact material, the post and footing size, the gates, tear-out and haul-away, the permit and any drawings or product approval the city wants, and cleanup. When one quote is much lower, something on that list is usually missing from it. Three contractors pricing the same written scope tend to land near each other.
Does a fence add value to my home?
It can help a sale, and it matters most to buyers with a dog, young children or a pool. Do not count on getting the whole cost back. For the effect on property taxes, ask the Broward County Property Appraiser's office.
